YARS February 7, 2012 Meeting Present: Rob Brunk N6KIX, Kevin Grayson W6JKG, Allan Hollander KG6KDJ, President Gary Matteson WA6TQJ, Peter Millar KQ6ZL, Marion Millar K6MZ, Daniel Nelson KJ6LVS, Secretary Dave Nishikawa KC6YFG, Treasurer Ben Norman WA6NIK, Steve Overacker WA6HAM, Jan Overacker KC6ZKS, Garry Pratt KA6VBR, and Robert Schulz KC6UDS. Guests: Chris Huber N6ICW, Sacramento Valley Section Manager Ron Murdock W6KJ, Charlie Porter N6JOA, and Pamela Porter N6JOA, and Jerry Young KG6TEN. Meeting opened at 1930 hrs by President Gary Matteson WA6TQJ with self-introductions all around. ARRL Section Manager Ronald Murdock W6KJ informed the group that the 60 meter band plan was coming out, the January QST Online was open to all members, and that med-year ARRL would offer an online version of QST as an additional benefit to members. No Secretary's or Treasurer's report. Old business: Further antenna analyzer discussion was deferred. Incorporation discussion was deferred since Bill Ragsdale K6KN was absent. Dues were deferred due to absence of the treasurer. New business: President Gary Matteson WA6TQJ reported that Yolo ARES expressed an interest in again joining YARS for Field Day this year and have a preference for the Davis Fire Department Mace Blvd. site. Robert Schulz KC6UDS motioned to contribute $300 towards Field Day. Daniel Nelson KJ6LVS seconded. Motion passed. The BARK packet net was mentioned as well as packet for public service. Discussion on packet for public service ensued. The large number of recent check-ins, 19 and 14, to the last two weekly YARS nets was mentioned. Self-introductions all around were done again due to latecomers. Treasurer Ben Norman WA6NIK reported that YARS had $4,869.91 in the checking account and that $150 was paid to Dave Nishikawa KC6YFG as reimbursement for his payment of YARS' annual contribution to the Explorit Science Center in December. Meeting Program was given by Steve Overacker who works for the Yolo Emergency Communications Agency (YECA). He started by giving his background in radio and then gave a detailed explanation of the workings of YECA and their ongoing plans upgrading their radio systems. Meeting adjourned approximately 2045 hrs.
